FLORENCE, Ala. – Wes Weeks hit three home runs and drove in five runs to lead North Florida to a 10-4 win over North Alabama in the first game of an ASUN Conference series at Mike Lane Field.
North Florida took a 3-0 lead in the second inning and extended the lead to 7-0 before UNA got on the board with a pair of runs in the fifth. UNF got three more runs for a 10-2 lead before UNA's
Peyton Sockwell hit a two-run homer in the ninth to close the final gap to 10-4.
UNA had seven hits in the game with two each off the bats of Sockwell and
Kevin Brenning.
Kyle Moore (0-4) took the loss for UNA, allowing seven runs on seven hits over five innings.
Colin Chamblin pitched one hitting and gave up two runs on three hits.
Nick Cummings pitched the final three innings and allowed a run on three hits.
The Lions and Ospreys will play game two of the series at 11:00 a.m. on Friday and the final game of the series will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
