Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the seventh inning and held on to down North Alabama 3-2 at FedEx Park.
North Alabama out-hit Memphis 12-to-10 but the Lions left 11 runners on base and UNA batters struckout 14 times.
With the loss, UNA is now 11-28 overall, while Memphis improved to 19-18.
UNA took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when
Colt Chrestman and
Harris Kain both singled and Chrestman later scored on a wild pitch. The Lions missed an opportunity to score more runs, leaving two runners on base.
After being shuout for four innings, Memphis took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a combination of two singles, a walk and a wild pitch.
The Lions would tie the game in the top of the seventh inning as
Ben Kiefer doubled and
Peyton Sockwell delivered a two out, RBI-double.
Memphis regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI-single by Nick Vaage with two outs.
UNA managed just one base runner over the final two innings.
Colin Chamblin started for the Lions and pitched three and a third scoreless innings, scattering four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Keegan Foge pitched one inning and gave up two runs on one hit.
Hunter Davidson (2-2) took the loss after pitching the final three and two-thirds for UNA and allowed a run on five hits.
The Lions and Tigers play again at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
