Ft. MYERS, Fla. -- Despite getting just three hits, the University of North Alabama held a 3-2 lead in the seventh inning before falling 6-3 to Florida Gulf Coast in an ASUN Conference game at Swanson Field.
UNA scored three runs in the third inning and held a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh before the Eagles tied the game. After the Lions left a runner on base in the top of the eighth inning, FGCU scored three runs in the bottom of the frame as Eric Gonzalez singled, Cameron Krzemski was hit-by-pitch and Joe Kiner hit a three-run homer to right field.
With the loss, UNA is now 11-30 overall and 5-10 in ASUN play. FGCU improves to 28-14 and 10-3 in conference play.
FGCU took a 1-0 lead with a run in the second inning before UNA scored three in the top of the third on just one hit for a 3-1 advantage.

Davis Elliott ripped a two-run homer to put UNA on top.
Kevin Brenning then walked and scored after three errors by the Eagles.
FGCU scored a run in the bottom of the third but UNA continued to lead 3-2 until the bottom of the seventh when the Eagles tied the game with a run on a hit and an error.
After FGCU took the lead in the bottom of the eighth, UNA loaded the bases in the top of the ninth but could not score as Hunter McGarry would eventually retire the side to get the win. Â

Kyle Moore pitched 3.2 innings and allowed two runs on seven hits.
Hunter Davidson then came on and pitched the final 4.1 innings and gave up four runs on three hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Davidson falls to 2-3 with the loss.
The Lions and Eagles play the second game of the series at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
