BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Just a day after its best offensive performance of the season in an upset of 18th ranked Ole Miss, the University of North Alabama managed just one run on four hits in a 9-1 road loss at Samford.
With the loss, UNA is 6-22 overall while Samford improved to 20-9.
The Lions lone run came on a solo home run by
Reid Homan in the top of the eighth inning with UNA trailing 7-0.
The Bulldogs got two runs in the bottom of the first inning and added two in the fourth, single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings and two more in the eighth.
Adam Mancour started for UNA and allowed four runs on three hits over three innings.
Kaleb Barnes was touched for two runs on three hits in his three innings of work, while
Keegan Foge allowed three runs on four hits in one and a third innings and
Austin Nichols pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit.
The loss marked the 11th time this season that UNA scored one run or less in a contest.
North Alabama hosts a three-game ASUN Conference series with Liberty beginning Friday at Mike Lane Field.
