VOLLEYBALL LIONS FALL AT HOME TO LIPSCOMB

FLORENCE – North Alabama came up just short in each set Friday in a 3-0 home loss to Lipscomb in ASUN Conference volleyball action. With the 21-25, 23-25, 35-37 loss, UNA falls to 6-14 overall and 0-7 in league play.
 
The Lions were in striking distance throughout the match, including the marathon third set that featured 13 set points before a block by the Bisons ended the match. UNA fought off eight match points and had five set points of its own before falling in the program's highest scoring set in the Division I era.
 
North Alabama held the advantage in team hitting percentage (.250-.229) and total blocks (9-8), could never get over the hump.
 
Katy Floyd hit .323 on the day and finished with a match-high 13 kills. AK Griggs and Kamryn Parsonage added eight kills each. Griggs hit .571 and added four blocks. Breylee Linder paced the offense with 34 assists for the Lions.
 
Defensively, Tatum Fouche and Katie Gerig recorded eight digs each to lead UNA. Meg Mersman led Lipscomb (9-8 overall, 6-1 ASUN) with 10 kills.
 
UNA will host Central Arkansas on Friday. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
