UNA FALLS TO FGCU ON FINAL DAY OF ASUN BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOURNEY

HUNTSVILLE – No. 20 FGCU remained undefeated in the 2022 ASUN Beach Volleyball Championships with a 5-0 win over North Alabama on Sunday. With the loss, UNA closes out the season at 16-14 to set a program record for victories and claim a winning record for the second straight year.

On Sunday, FGCU took the early lead with wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions. At the top spot, the Eagles rallied to win the opening set before clinching the overall match with a 23-21, 21-10 win.

The final two positions went to three sets each. At No. 2, Catie Ladner and Mackenzie Martin won the opening frame 21-16. FGCU, however, stayed alive with a 24-22 win in the second set before taking the third set 15-8.

Taylor Seney and Allison Temple rallied at the No. 3 spot before falling in three sets. The duo overcame a 21-13 loss in the first set with a 21-14 victory in the second. The Eagles were able to wrap up the scoring on the day with a 15-13 win in the third frame.
