BEACH VOLLEYBALL DROPS TWO MATCHES AT AUSTIN PEAY

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn., – Four days after defeating Austing Peay 4-1 at the EKU Tournament, the University of North Alabama beach volleyball team lost a pair of matches on the Governors home court. The 5-0 and 4-1 defeats leave UNA with an even 10-10 record on the season.

In the opener, ASPU won four of the five matches in straight sets. After grabbing a quick 2-0 lead with wins at the bottom of the lineup, the Governors clinched the match with a 21-16, 21-16 win at the No. 1 position.

At No. 2, Catie Ladner and Mackenzie Martin lost an early lead in a 21-18, 17-21, 8-15 decision. Austin Peay then completed the sweep with two wins at the No. 3 spot.

In the second match, the two teams split the first two points before the home team finished with three straight victories. After ASPU took an early lead with a win at No. 5, Katy Floyd and Martha McLaurin evened the overall score with a 21-15, 18-21, 15-9 win at the No. 4 position.

The Governors regained the lead with a win at No. 3 before clinching the match with a 21-12, 21-17 victory at No. 2. Another ASPU win at the top spot wrapped up the scoring on the day.

UNA will travel to face UT-Martin on April 13. The teams will play a double-header beginning at 2 p.m. (CST) on the UTM campus in Martin, Tenn.
