ATLANTA (October 26, 2023) – The University of North Alabama women's soccer team featured three members on the Academic All-ASUN team the league office announced on Thursday. Alice Bussey, Hannah Guthrie and Montana Merkle were among 11 student-athletes honored by the Atlantic Sun Conference with the award.
Senior Alice Bussey has started in all 19 matches for the Lions in 2023. She has appeared in 67 matches in her UNA career, which includes 61 starts. Bussey is pursuing a bachelor's degree in biology and has maintained a 3.67 GPA.
Hannah Guthrie has been a five year starter for North Alabama, starting in 75 of 79 matches played across her UNA career. She has appeared in all 19 matches for the Lions so far this season. Guthrie graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture and Design and a 4.0 GPA. She holds a GPA of 4.0 while working towards a master's degree in business and is slated to graduate in Spring 2024.
Montana Merkle has appeared in 18 matches and started 17 for the Lions in 2023. She has made 43 appearances in her three-year North Alabama career with 28 starts. The junior has managed a perfect 4.0 GPA while working towards her bachelor's degree in computer science.
