TUSCUMBIA, Ala. – After rain delays for a day and half, North Alabama and Miami (Ohio) finally managed to get in the first game in a three-game series with the Lions taking a 12-7 win in a game that ended at 12:48 AM Sunday morning.
The game was moved to a turf surface at Heine Manush Field, with the first pitch at 9:42 p.m.
UNA fell behind early, allowing three runs in the first inning and one in the second, all with just one hit.
North Alabama took the lead with a seven-run fourth inning on just two hits of its own. The Lions used three walks, two hit batters, an error and RBI-doubles from
Jonathan Lane and
Drew Hudson to push seven runs across the plate.
UNA added two runs in the fifth on a two-run home run by
Andrew Knight and got three more in the sixth on a
Peyton Thomas three-run shot.
Miami got two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.
UNA starter
Justus Agosto (1-1) got his first win, allowing four runs and just one hit in five innings of work. He walked eight and struckout seven.
Jacob Bradshaw pitched the final four innings to earn a save. He gave up three runs on three hits with four walks and seven strikeouts.
The Lions out-hit the Redhawks eight to four.
