LIONS RALLY LATE TO DOWN TENNESSEE TECH

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Trailing 5-2 in the seventh inning, the University of North Alabama abseball team got a three-run home run from Kyle Macahado and the scored the inning run on a wild pitch to take a 6-5 victory over Tennessee Tech.

The win pushed UNA's record to 5-7 overall and snaps a 30-game road losing streak that dated back to a 9-5 win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa on March 9, 2022.

UNA fell behind 1-0 in the second inning but took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the third. Levi Jensen scored the first run on a failed pickoff attempt and Jonathan then doubled in Frei.

Tennessee Tech scored four runs in the fifth inning to knock UNA starter Justus Agosto out of the game.

Machado hit his three-run homer in the seventh inning to tie the game, driving in Frei and Dominick McIntyre.

Then in the eighth, Ethan Walker scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Agosto pitched 4.1 innings and allowed four runs on three hits with eight walks.

Jacob Bradshaw (1-1) got the win for UNA in relief, pitching the final 4.2 innings and holding the Eagles to a run on three hits. He walked two and struckout six.

The two schools will play a double-header Saturday beginning at noon.
