FLORENCE, Ala. – Murray State took an early 7-2 lead and held on for a 9-6 win over North Alabama, snapping the Lions five-game home winning streak.
The Loss drops North Alabama to 5-10 overall as the Lions prepare to open ASUN Conference play Friday at Central Arkansas.
Murray State got a run in the second inning, two in the fourth, four in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the ninth. The Lions countered with two runs in the third, two in the seventh and two in the eighth.
In the third inning,
Gehrig Frei doubled in
Levi Jensen and
Jackson Ferrigno to give UNA a 2-1 lead.
In the seventh, Frei drew a bases-loaded walk to force in UNA's third run and Ferrigno drove in the fourth run with a sacrifice fly.
UNA's final two runs came in the eighth when
Drew Hudson doubled in
Andrew Knight, then scored on a Ferrigno RBI-single.
Avery Brown (0-2) took the loss of UNA in relief. He pitched one inning and allowed two runs on two hits.
