DELAND, Fla. -- After having won 10 of its last 11 matches, the University of North Alabama beach volleyball team took two losses Friday in the first day of play in the Stetson Sun-N-Sand Invitational. The Lions lost to FGCU and Florida Atlantic by identical 4-1 scores.

In the match against FGCU, UNA's No. 1 pair of Paula Klemperer and Taylor Seney got the win over the Eagles' Kacie Johnson and Maddison Parmelly, 18-21, 21-16, 15-4. FGCU won the other four pairs in straight sets.

Against Florida Atlantic, the Lions' No. 2 pair of Katy Floyd and Mackenzie Martin took a 21-17, 21-13 win to earn UNA its only point.

North Alabama will face Coastal Carolina and Stetson on Saturday.
