NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- North Alabama got on the scoreboard first with two runs in the first inning, but fourth ranked Vanderbilt scored in each of the first five innings and went on to a 14-2 win over the Lions in seven innings.
The Commodores, 27-6, got one run in the first inning and added four in the second, three in the third, three in the fourth and three in the fifth, while out-hitting UNA 13-2.
The Lions are now 6-25.
With two outs in the first inning, UNA's
Jonathan Lane drew a walk,
Kyle Machado was hit-by-pitch and
Andrew Knight walked to load the bases.
Jackson Ferrigno then singled up the middle to drive in two runs.
UNA's only other hit in the game was a double by Knight in the third inning.
Brycen Parrish (0-1), the first of five Lions to throw in the game, took the loss, allowing five runs on four hits in an inning and two-thirds of work.
Bryce Richter was the only Lion pitcher to not allow a run with a perfect three up and three down performance in the sixth.
North Alabama returns to ASUN Conference plat this weekend with a three-game series against Bellarmine in Louisville, Ky.
