FLORENCE, Ala. -- Lipscomb was held to just three hits but North Alabama pitchers walked 11 batters and hit another as the Bisons picked up a 7-2 win over the Lions in the first game of an ASUN Conference series at Mike Lane Field.
Lipscomb scored a run in the first inning on no hits, using three walks and an error to push a run across. The Bisons added another run in the second on two walks and a single and another in the fourth.
In the seventh inning, three consecutive batters drew walks before Trace Wilhoite hit a grand slam to make it 7-0.
UNA got a run in the bottom of the seventh when
Kyle Machado got a leadoff double and scored on a
Drew Hudson sacrifice fly.
Gehrig Frei then hit a solo home run in the ninth to make the final count 7-2.
UNA starter
Will Morris (1-3) took the loss. He allowed three runs on two hits over four innings. He walked six and struckout two.
UNA is now 6-22 overall and 0-10 in ASUN play.
The Lions and Bisons will meet again at 6 p.m. Saturday at Mike Lane Field.
