HUDSON AND MACHADO NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

FLORENCE, Ala. -- University of North Alabama senior baseball players Drew Hudson of Arab, Ala., and Kyle Machado of Punta Gorda, Fla., have been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Baseball team.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6 for softball and June 7 for baseball.  

A five-year starter in the UNA baseball program Hudson has a 3.88 cumulative grade point average as he pursues a Masters of Accounting degree.

For his career, Hudson has played 194 career games at UNA with 180 starts. He has 166 hits, has scored 101 runs and driven in another 74.
He has started 46 games this season for the Lions , scoring 21 runs and driving in another 23.

Machado, a grad-transfer to UNA, has a 3.67 GPA in his pursuit of a Masters in Sport and Recreation. A starter all season at first base for the Lions, Machado leads UNA with eight home runs, 37 runs batted in and 87 totral bases. He also leads the Lions with 17 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games in 2023.
