NOTES

LAST TIME OUT: UNA opened the 2025-26 season with a 57-54 home win over UT Martin on Nov. 3. The Lions rang in the campaign on a high note and in dramatic fashion, fending off a late Skyhawks run to seal the home win. North Alabama's Katie Criswell secured a layup with 14 seconds to go, then the Lions defended the final UT Martin possession to land the season's first win.

OPENING DAY MAGIC:
North Alabama's win over UT Martin marked five-straight season-opening wins since 2021. The Lions defeated the Skyhawks to open the season in 2024, while previously beating Tennessee Southern (2023), Christian Brothers (2022) and Blackburn College (2021) in prior opening bouts. North Alabama is now 7-1 in opening-day games since going Division I and has won nine of 10 season openers since the 2016-17 season.

SCOUTING THE LIONS:
North Alabama features seven returning contributors, including four of the top five scorers, as well as the top three rebounders. Three starters return along with six players who were top 10 on the team in minutes played. Three transfers and five freshmen join the team this season.

MCNAMARA MAKES WAVES:
Junior Cameron McNamara introduced herself to the Lions in fiery fashion against UT Martin. The transfer forward tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds in her UNA debut, securing team highs in both categories. She also chipped in four assists and three steals which also led the team.

SOFIA'S STAR RISES: Sophomore Sofia Ceppellotti shined in her first career start against the Skyhawks. The Italy native had a near-double-double effort with 11 points and nine rebounds while going 3-5 behind the arc.

KATIE GOT BUCKETS:
Criswell picked up where she left off from 2024-25, scoring 11 points to tie Ceppellotti for the second-most points against UT Martin. Criswell was key performer in UNA's 14-0 third-quarter run against the Skyhawks and provided the game-sealing bucket in the fourth. She also finished with five rebounds, two assists and one block.

THE ROOKIE AND THE VET:
Newcomers Bukky Akinsola and Greta Ramon Akinsola made themselves right at home in their first UNA contest. Akinsola provided spark off the bench with nine points on 66.7 percent shooting with two steals. Ramon totaled seven points and also provided a steal on the defensive end.

SCOUTING FISK:
The Lady Bulldogs face the Lions in their third game of the season. Fisk is 2-0 to start 2025-26 with previous wins over Brewton-Parker (59-56) and Mobile (81-75). The Lady Bulldogs finished the 2024-25 season with an 11-17 record and 10-8 HBCU Athletic Conference record. Fisk made the HBCUAC Basketball Championships, ending with a second-round appearance after defeating Voorhees in the opening round, 71-54. The Lady Bulldogs return two players from 2024-25 in Kayla Lee (9.1 PPG) and Teniya Williams (4.5). Fisk is led by Victoria Crawford in her third season.

SERIES HISTORY:
North Alabama leads the series against Fisk, 6-0. The last meeting came during the 2023-24 season resulting in a 95-60 home win on Dec. 5, 2023. The 95 points marked a season high in scoring that season.

PRESEASON RANKS:
The Atlantic Sun Conference announced its 2025 preseason information for women's basketball on Oct. 17, with North Alabama voted sixth in both the media poll and coaches poll. FGCU was voted first in both polls.
