INDIANAPOLIS, In. (April 30, 2025) – The NCAA announced the 2025 Division I Golf Regional placements on Wednesday, April 30 on the Golf Channel, as University of North Alabama junior Xing Luo was named as one of the 36 individual participants and will compete in Auburn, Ala.
Luo is the first golfer to accomplish this feat in program history.
The Regional Championships are held May 12-14 for 18 holes per day. Auburn University received a No. 1 seed for this season and play on home territory at Auburn University Club. The top five teams and the top individual not affiliated with those five teams will qualify for the national championship. This applies for each of the six regional sites.
The NCAA Division I Championship is held in Carlsbad, Calif. at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa from May 23-28.
Luo had a memorable season capping it off with a fourth-place finish in Valdosta, Ga. at the ASUN Championship which led his team to their highest team finish in program history.
The junior won two individual crowns at the GMAC Invitational and the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational. Luo won four ASUN Golfer of the Week awards this season --- the most in a career, let alone a season.
He currently ranks as the 143rd golfer in the nation, according to Clippd Scoreboard.
Luo's first round pairings include No. 13 USC Upstate's No. 2 golfer and Arkansas State's Thomas Schmidt with a tee time of 9:53 a.m. on Monday, May 12.
"Xing (Luo) has had an unbelievable year and this is well deserved," said The Schmitz Family Head Men's Golf Coach, Austin Phillips. "We are excited to go to Auburn and he will do his best to compete. He will have a good shot and can't wait to get down there to get started."
