JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 6, 2025) – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced Tuesday that University of North Alabama golfer's Sebastian Bengtsson, Chase Kaiser and Xing Luo earned Academic All-ASUN honors.
All three of these Lions were named to both the CSC Academic All-District and GCAA All-America Scholars list a season ago.
Bengtsson, a management major, and Luo, a data analytics major, combined for five total ASUN Golfer of the Week awards this year. Luo set the most in a career this season alone with four.
The junior from Helsingborg, Sweden finished with four top-10 finishes this season and seven total top-25 finishes. He earned his first career ASUN Golfer of the Week award after his 10th place finish at the FAU Golf Invitational on Oct. 28.
Luo won two individual crowns at the GMAC invitational and the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational. He ended the year with a fourth place finish at the ASUN Championships and made the ASUN All-Tournament team.
The junior had seven top-10 finishes for the year with five of the last six finishing seventh or higher. He ranked as high as the 108th best player in the nation at one point and finished as the highest ranked golfer in the ASUN.
Kaiser, a finance major, had two top-15 finishes this year with an eighth place finish at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge on March 31. He finished with a six-under and finished with a 210-overall score for the tournament, his lowest as a Lion.
All three were integral parts to the team notching their highest ranking in school history at No. 78 in the country. They led the team to their highest finish at the ASUN Championships in Valdosta, Ga. on April 24 as they placed fourth. No team in UNA history had finished higher than fifth. This was also a three-spot jump from 2024 as they finished in seventh.
"It is such a honor to have three Academic All-ASUN golfers," said The Schmitz Family Head Men's Golf Coach, Austin Phillips. "It shows the hard work the team puts in the classroom on a daily basis. Not only did we have one of our best years on the course but the guys did amazing off the course as well. Chase, Seb and Xing really led the way while all playing at a high level throughout the season."
