NOTES

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the seventh all-time meeting for the two programs dating back to 2020. The Lions are 1-2-3 against Bellarmine. This will be the second time these two have matched up twice in the same season. Three straight games in 2020 and 2021 resulted in ties. UNA's lone win came in Florence in 2023, while neither team has won in Louisville; both games ended in 0-0 ties. Bellarmine walked away with the 1-0 victory over the Lions in 2024. Both teams competed with stout defenses as goalkeeper Allanah Blye led with a shutout through the first half. The UNA defense allowed only one shot during the first 45. Despite the loss, North Alabama found their then season-high of shots with 17 as eight were on target.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS: Bellarmine is 7-1-2 to begin this season, leading the ASUN Gold Division in overall wins. The Knights are 1-1 in league played after their recent loss to Lipscomb on Sunday, 2-0. The Knights have four shutouts this season and four 2-1 final score wins. Bellarmine got going in ASUN play against Austin Peay on Thursday, winning 2-1; this was APSU's first goal of the season. Currently, the team sits in second in the Gold Division just two slots higher than North Alabama. Bellarmine boasts 23 goals on the season while just allowing seven; the defense allows nearly 14 shots a game. Lucy von Stefenelli is top-two in both shots and shots on goal in the ASUN.

ABOUT LAST GAME: The University of North Alabama soccer team earned its first conference win Sunday afternoon over Central Arkansas, 1-0.  Despite a weather delay that pushed kickoff back to 2:10 p.m., junior forward Charlotte Sobotka scored 11 minutes in, giving the Lions an early lead.  Junior midfielder Adelyn Speight delivered a free kick from midfield, setting up Sobotka to head in the goal — her second career goal and first with North Alabama.

CLEAN SHEET QUEEN: Over this past week, the Atlantic Sun Conference announced that graduate goalkeeper Madison Vukas was named the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week. This comes after shutting out Central Arkansas in the opening conference game of the season, 1-0. She made seven saves, including one on a gut-shot ball that knocked her to the ground but was ultimately cleared. Despite the Bears leading in corners and shots, Vukas and the defense prevented any scoring chances throughout the full 90 minutes. She joins Alice Bussey, Adelyn Speight and Lilly Ford as Lions that have been honored with the award this season. Vukas leads the ASUN in GAA, save percentage and shutouts. Nationally, she ranks ninth in goals-against average, second in save percentage and fourth in shutouts. She is the first UNA player to earn ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week honors since Adriana Wright on Sept. 17, 2023.

CONFERENCE OPENER STATEMENTS: This is the third-straight season that the Lions opened conference play with a shutout win over their opponent. In 2023, the Lions defeated then ASUN member Kennesaw State 2-0. In 2024, UNA welcomed new ASUN member West Georgia to the conference as the Lions took home a 3-0 victory at the Florence Sportsplex. This year, the Lions quieted the Bears 1-0 on Sunday.

SHUTOUT PATTERNS: The Lions have recorded six shutouts of the season, with five wins in those matches. Thanks in large part to reigning ASUN Keeper of the Week and the Lion backline that is comprised of Avery Smith, Lilly Ford, Adelyn Speight and Gracie Tyrrell. Notably, the six clean sheets have come in three sets of back-to-back shutouts: 0-0 ties with Jacksonville State and UT Martin (Aug. 17 & 21), 3-0 wins over SEMO and Alabama State (Aug. 31 & Sept. 4), and 1-0 wins against Tennessee Tech and Central Arkansas in the past week. Following the first pair of shutouts, the Lions earned their first win over Troy, 2-1. After the second set, UNA lost its first game since the season opener with a 1-0 loss to Chattanooga.

TO CONFERENCE PLAY!: The ASUN moved to two divisions ahead of the 2025 spring season, meaning teams will only play within the division during the regular season. During post season, each division matches up with the other in the first round, including top seeds against four seeds and two seeds against three seeds. All soccer postseason games will be hosted on campus sites by the top two teams in each division.

GOLD AND GRAPHITE: The ASUN Gold Division is where North Alabama will play this season, joining Central Arkansas, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, EKU and Lipscomb. The Graphite Division includes FGCU, Jacksonville, Stetson, North Florida, West Georgia and Queens.

NEXT GAME: Following the Bellarmine match, UNA will stick around in Kentucky to play at Eastern Kentucky on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT.
