UNA 2014: Earned first-team All-Gulf South Conference honors as a designated hitter last season...hit .328 for the season (57-of-174) with two home runs and 37 runs batted in...added six doubles and led team with 40 walks...hit-by-pitch five times and had a .464 on base percentage and a .397 slugging percentage....one sacrifice fly and one sacrifice bunt...nine-of-11 on stolen base attempts...had a .971 fielding percentage with just seven errors in 240 total chances...had 16 multiple hit games with a season-best hitting streak of seven games...added eight multiple RBI games...Selected Gulf South Conference Player of the Week and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Region Player of the Week for March 17 ... hit .474 for the week (9-of-19) with five runs scored and 11 runs batted in as he led the Lions to five straight wins...against No. 17 ranked Montevallo, he went four-for-four with two home runs and six RBI...he then helped lead the Lions to a home win over Stillman and a three-game sweep of a GSC series with Christian Brothers....with a double and two home runs he elevated his slugging percentage to .842 for the week and, with four bases on balls to go with his nine hits, he had a .565 on base percentage...he was also the winning pitcher in UNA’s 7-1 win over Christian Brothers, pitching six innings, allowing just one unearned run on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts...selected GSC Player of the Week again on March 24 after helping lead UNA to a 3-1 record while hitting .545 (six-of-11) with seven runs scored, three runs batted in, two doubles, seven bases on balls and two stolen bases...with the seven walks his on base percentage for the week was .737 and he also had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage for the week with no errors in 30 chances....on the mound he was 4-3 with a 3.28 earned run average, allowing 21 earned runs in 57.2 innings pitched...opponents hit .258 against him...allowed 55 hits, 23 runs, walked 27 and struckout 29...threw five wild pitches and hit 10 batters...wins came against Christian Brothers, Alabama-Huntsville, West Georgia and Shorter...losses were to Florida Tech, Valdosta State and Union...COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Played at Darton State College under head coach Scott Hemmings prior to transferring to UNA…helped lead the Cavaliers to the best record in school history (47-9)…named All-Region GCAA Member and to the GCAA All-Tournament Team…member of Power Showcase, Dixie team member for Tournament of Stars…hit .405 with a 6-0 record on the mound and a 1.97 ERA…HIGH SCHOOL: Played first base, third base and pitched at Fort Payne High School under head coach Johnny Johnson…helped lead the Wildcats to the playoffs and an area championship…named All-State as a designated hitter in 2008, All-State at first base in 2009 and 2010 and Under Armour All-American in 2008, 2009 and 2010…broke records for best batting average (.573) and most hits in a season (51) in 2008…also lettered in football four years…top ten in class academically…PERSONAL: Full name Richard Kyle Conkle…born on January 9, 1992…son of Greg and Dara Conkle and has one brother, Clay…major is Exercise Science.
