FLORENCE, Ala. – North Alabama's four-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday as the Lions managed just six hits in an 8-2 loss at Montevallo. The Lions are now 19-18 overall and Montevallo stands at 21-22.
Montevallo scored a run in the first inning and added another in the third to make it 2-0. The Falcons then scored six runs in the fourth inning for an 8-0 lead. North Alabama's only two runs came in the sixth when
Peyton Sockwell singled, followed by a
Chris Blakey RBI-double and a
Dylan Calhoun RBI-single.
Shawn Smirnoff (1-2) took the loss for UNA, allowing eight runs on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Bradley Bailey pitched three scoreless innings, walking three and striking out one, while
Dylan Stewart pitched a scoreless eighth.
Blakey was the lone Lion with two hits.
North Alabama hosts Union Saturday and Sunday in a three-game Gulf South Conference series beginning at 1 p.m. each day.
