FLORENCE, Ala. -- Senior
Devan Traglia threw a nine-inning, complete-game shutout and
Drake Tucker had three hits and drove in four runs as the University of North Alabama baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Christian Brothers, 8-0 at Mike Lane Field.
UNA has now won nine of its ten GSC series this season and completed its third 3-0 sweep and second in a row.
Riding an overall eight-game winning streak, UNA is now 31-15 overall and 21-9 in league play.
Traglia (6-1), allowed just four hits, walked three and struckout ten batters in recording the win.
UNA backed his efforts with two runs in the first inning, two in the third, three in the fourth and one in the seventh.
T.J. Lockett drew a walk in the first inning, stole second and scored Tucker's RBI-single.
Peyton Sockwell then drove in Tucker on a ground-out.
In the third, Lockett singled and
Davis Elliott reached on an error. After a double-steal, Tucker drove in two more runs with a single to make it 4-0.
In the fourth,
Ben Cooley walked and Peyton Thomas drove him in with an RBI-single. After Thomas stole second, Elliott doubled him in to make it 6-0. Tucker followed with an RBI-double to extend it to 7-0.
The Lions final run came in the seventh as Elliott got a lead-off double and scored when
Brandt Holland grounded into a fielder's choice.
Tucker was eight-of-12 in the three game series with nine runs batted in. He ahs a current 11-game hitting streak and leads the Lions with 20 multi-hit games.
With Delta State's loss to Valdosta State, the Statesmen have just a two-game lead in the GSC standings with three to play. Either DSU (23-7) or UNA (21-9) will host the 2017 GSC Tournament on May 6-9.
North Alabama plays a non-conference game at Trevecca on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
