KENNESAW, Ga. – North Alabama gave up three runs in the first inning and the Lions couldn't recover as the Lions dropped the ASUN Conference series finale at Kennesaw State, 8-3.
North Alabama, 3-19 overall and 0-3 in the ASUN, got a run in the second to close the score to 3-1 but the Owls got three more in the fourth and one in the sixth for a 7-1 advantage. UNA got two runs back in the seventh but couldn't get any closer and KSU added a final insurance run in the eighth.
Jacob Laws (1-4) took the loss for UNA, allowing six runs on eight hits over three and a third innings. He walked one and struckout two. He was the first of six UNA pitchers in the game.
Kyle Moore and
Nick Cummings allowed one run each.
Reid Homan scored UNA's first run in the second inning when
Harris Kain reached on an error. The Lions other two runs in the seventh came on a two-run single by
Ben Kiefer.
Kiefer and
Davis Elliott led UNA with two hits each.
North Alabama plays a single game at Alabama State on Tuesday.
