FLORENCE, Ala. – Tennessee Tech broke open a 2-2 game with a nine-run sixth inning and went on to an 18-4 win over North Alabama at Mike Lane Field.
The Eagles got a leadoff home run from Cody Littlejohn but UNA tied the game in the third inning. Each team added a run in the fourth before Tennessee Tech went up 11-2 in the sixth. Each team again added a run in the seventh before the Eagled scored six more in the eighth to make it 18-3. UNA got its last run in the bottom of the eighth.
With the loss, UNA is now 1-13 overall and has lost seven straight. Tennessee Tech is now 6-5.
In the third inning,
Garrett Smith doubled from UNA and sacrificed to third and then squeezed in on a bunt by
Dominick McIntyre. That run snapped a three-game scoreless drought for the Lions.
Down 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth,
Devne Daniel singled and later scored on a sacrifice bunt by
Harris Kain.
UNA's run in the seventh came on a
Landon Langston double and an RBI-single by
Kylan Barnett.
The Lions' final run in the eighth came on a
Peyton Thomas single and an eventual bases loaded walk to Smith.
Jacob Bradshaw (0-2), the second of eight UNA pitchers to throw in the game, took the loss. He allowed two runs on one hit with two walks in one inning of work.
