LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- North Alabama broke through with a run in the ninth inning to prevent a shutout but the Lions were limited to three hits in a 5-1 ASUN Conference loss to Bellarmine.
With the loss, North Alabama is 1-15 overall and 0-5 in ASUN Conference play. Bellarmine improved to 6-10 overall and 2-3 in the ASUN.
Bellarmine broke on top with a three-run third inning and added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings for a 5-0 lead.
In the top of the ninth,
Kylan Barnett walked for UNA and
Peyton Thomas later delivered a two-out single to plate the Lions' only run.
Chase Best took the loss for UNA, allowing five runs on 10 hits in six and a third innings on the mound.
Keegan Foge pitched an inning and two thirds of scoreless relief.
Thomas had all three of UNA's hits in the game, going 3-for-4 on the day.
The Lions and Knights will play the final game of the series at noon on Sunday.
