FLORENCE, Ala. --Kennesaw State broke open a 2-2 game with a run in the seventh inning and went on to an 8-2 win over North Alabama in ASUN Conference baseball action at Mike Lane Field.
Each team scored a run in the first inning before UNA went on top 2-1 with a run in the bottom of the second. The Owls tied it again in the fourth and then added one run in the seventh, two in the eight and three in the ninth.
The loss snapped a three-game home winning streak for the Lions.
UNA is now 4-23 overall and 3-7 in ASUN play. Kennesaw State is now 17-8 overall and 5-2 in the ASUN.
KSU's Nick Colina homered in the top of the first but UNA answered with a run in the bottom of the frame as
Devne Daniel singled,
Kylan Barnett doubled and Daniel scored on a ground-out by
Peyton Thomas.
UNA took the lead in the second as
Austin Thrasher got a leadoff double and later scored on a sacrifice bunt by
Levi Jensen.
Colina's second homer of the day in the fourth inning tied the game at 2-2.
A solo shot by Jake Coro in the seventh gave KSU a 3-2 advantage. The Owls got two more in the eighth and Tyler Tolve added a three-run homer in the ninth to make the final count 8-2.
UNA starter
Hunter Davidson (1-4) took the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits over seven and two-thirds innings.
The Lions and Owls play the second game of the series on Saturday at 2 p.m.
