Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- North Alabama gave up seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and never recovered as the Lions dropped a 14-5 decision at Lipscomb in UNA's final regular season ASUN Conference game.
UNA is now 7-34 overall and 6-15 in ASUN play. Lipscomb improves to 15-24 overall and 6-12 in the ASUN.
The Lions won both regular season series from the Bisons, taking five of the six games from Lipscomb.
The Bisons roughed up UNA starter
Kyle Moore (0-8) for seven runs on six hits and two errors in the first inning, including a grand slam from Brian Moore.
LIpscomb added two more runs in the third inning and one in the fourth for a 10-0 advantage before the Lions began to fight their way back into the game.
UNA got a run in the fifth as
Harris Kain walked and eventually scored on a bases loaded walk to
Peyton Thomas with just one out. The Lions then hit into a double play to end the threat.
In the sixth, UNA got singles from
Garrett Smith and
Luke Harper and Smith scored on a ground out by
Ben Kiefer.
Drew Hudson drew a walk and
Devne Daniel was hit by pitch to load the bases but a foul out left the bases loaded.
The Lions cut the lead in half at 10-5 with a three-run eighth inning. Harper got a leadoff walk and Hudson singled. A double by Daniel drove in one run and another scored on a
Kylan Barnett RBI-single. A sacrifice fly by Thomas drove in Daniel for the final run of the frame.
Lipscomb's bats came back to life in the bottom of the eighth, scoring four runs and ending UNA's comeback hopes.
North Alabama left 14 runners on base in the loss.
Moore allowed nine runs, four earned, on eight hits over two innings of work. He walked two and struckout one.
Brycen Parrish allowed one run on three hits in one inning of work.
Austin Emener pitched three shutout innings before allowing three runs in the eighth.
Austin Nichols pitched the final one-third of an inning, allowing a run on two hits.
Hudson, Daniel and Harper led UNA with two hits each.
The Lions are set to host Alabama State on Tuesday in their home finale, weather permitting, at 5 p.m.
