ATLANTA (November 13, 2023) – University of North Alabama freshman outside hitter/right side Nicole Sargent was announced as the Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball Freshman of the Week by the league on Monday.

Over two road contests against Lipscomb and Austin Peay this past weekend, Sargent registered seven kills for North Alabama, two assists, a dig and two blocks for a total of eight points over the course of the weekend. Her best performance came at Austin Peay to complete a season sweep of the Govs, when she finished the night with six kills on a .444 hitting percentage and added one dig and one block for UNA.

The honor marks the first of Sargent's career and is the second that a Lion has received after outside hitter Avery Markham received the honor three times earlier this season.

Clinching the fifth seed in the ASUN Championship, Sargent and the Lions will turn their attention to the opening round of the ASUN Volleyball Championship in Fort Myers, Fla. this week, where the Lions will face No. 4 Kennesaw State on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 3 p.m.
