JACKSONVILLE (September 29, 2025) – University of North Alabama sophomores Reese Ricketts and Kinslee McGowan were named the Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball Player of the Week and Setter of the Week, respectively, by the league office on Monday.
The Lions opened conference play with a dominant weekend, sweeping both Austin Peay and Lipscomb in CB&S Bank Arena. The victory against the Bisons marked the second all-time win in the series history.
Ricketts and McGowan played central roles in the two victories with strong attack and set percentages. Ricketts nabs her first of the season, while McGowan takes home her third overall and second-straight.
This also marks the second time this season UNA has earned two weekly awards. McGowan and freshman Jenna Kolosta were named the Setter of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively, on Sept. 8.
Ricketts is no stranger to weekly accolades, earning her seventh career distinction and second career ASUN Player of the Week award.
The Harrison, Ark. native finished the weekend with 27 kills, 11 digs, five blocks, four assists and one service ace. She was an offensive force, averaging 4.50 kills per set on a .344 hitting percentage.
Ricketts led the match in kills against Lipscomb, totaling 15 on a .419 hitting percentage. She registered the second-highest match total in kills against Austin Peay with 12 on a .267 hitting percentage.
McGowan continues her standout season with her third Setter of the Week honor in four weeks. She totaled 70 assists for the weekend while averaging 11.67 per set.
The Cleveland, Tenn. native led both matches against Austin Peay and Lipscomb in assists with 37 against the Governors and 33 against the Bisons. The sophomore additionally tallied eight digs, six kills and one block on the weekend.
The sophomores look to continue momentum with the Lions facing Central Arkansas on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m.
