CINCINNATI, Ohio, -- Playing its third double-header in the last eight days, the University of North Alabama baseball team managed just nine hits in dropping the final two games of a four-game series against Cincinnati, 2-1 and 8-1.
The Lions got a strong performance from starting pitcher
Jacob James in the opener as he held the Bearcats to a single run on three hits over seven innings. He walked four and struckout eight before leaving the game tied 1-1.
Cincinnati got a run in the first inning and UNA tied it in the sixth when
Dominick McIntyre led off the inning with a solo home run.
The Bearcats scored the winning run off UNA's
Will Morris in the eighth off a hit batter, a walk, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI-single.
McIntyre had two of UNA's six hits in the game.
In the second game, Cincinnati again scored in the first inning, going on top 2-0. The Bearcats made it 3-0 in the second before the Lions scored in the third inning.
Andin Johnson homered for UNA's only run of the game.
Cincinnati added four runs in the fourth and one in the sixth.
Justin Battle (0-2) took the loss for UNA, allowing four runs on four hits with one walk and two strikeouts over 3.2 innings.
UNA is now 4-7 entering next weekend's series at Tennessee Tech.
