LOUISVILLE, Ky. – North Alabama scored 13 runs on 21 hits and rolled to a 13-3 win over Bellarmine in ASUN Conference baseball action. It was the Lions second straight win over the Knights as UNA set school Division I records with 21 hits, seven doubles and 34 total bases.
UNA is now 8-25 overall and 2-12 in the ASUN entering the final game of the series tomorrow at noon.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when UNA scored two runs to take the lead. The Lions would add three more runs in the fifth inning, five in the seventh and one in the ninth.
All nine batters in the UNA lineup had at least one hit, led by
Kyle Machado with four and
Jonathan Lane,
Drew Hudson and
Gehrig Frei with three each.
Andrew Knight and
Levi Jensen also homered for the Lions and drove in three runs each.
Bellarmine's only runs came when the Knights scored one in the third inning and two in the seventh.
UNA starter
Jacob James (2-3) got the win, pitching seven complete innings and allowing three runs on four hits with five walks and six strikeouts.
Bryce Richter pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
