FLORENCE, Ala. -- Leading 2-0 after seven innings, the University of North Alabama baseball team came out on the short end of a 6-5 score in 10 innings to Belmont at Mike Lane Field.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Lions and drops UNA to 9-26 overall, while Belmont improved to 20-18.

The game was scoreless entering the bottom of the sixth inning when UNA scored two runs. Drew Hudson singled and later scored on a throwing error, while Dominick McIntyre reached on a fielder's choice and scored on an Andin Johnson RBI-single.

That lead held until the top of the eighth when the Bruins scored five runs to take a 5-2 lead.

A two-run Johnson double cut the lead to 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth and a solo home run by Kyle Machado to lead off the ninth inning tied the game, forcing extra innings.

Belmont was able to scored a run in the top of the ninth and UNA went three up and three down in the bottom of the frame.

Will Shepherd took the loss for UNA, allowing an unearned run in an inning and two thirds of work.

North Alabama hosts Eastern Kentucky in a three-game ASUN Conference series beginning Friday.
