LIONS DROP HOME DOUBLE-HEADER

FLORENCE, Ala. –North Alabama pitchers walked 20 batters and the Lions hitters were held to just six hits in a double-header as Eastern Kentucky swept the Lions 12-2 and 5-3 at Mike Lane Field.

The sweep drops the Lions to 9-28 overall and 3-14 in ASUN Conference play.

North Alabama was held hitless in the opener until Jackson Ferrigno singled to leadoff the sixth inning. The Lions had managed to score a run, however, as Ferrigno walked to open the game, went to second on a balk, went to third on a fielder's choice and scored on an Andrew Knight sacrifice fly.

EKU, meanwhile, scored two runs in the first inning, five in the second, two in the fourth, one in the sixth and two in the eighth. UNA's other run came in the sixth after Ferrigno singled and was later driven in by Jonathan Lane.

UNA was held to two hits in the game.

Starter Jacob Bradshaw (2-4) took the loss, allowing nine runs on nine hits in three innings of work.

In the second game, UNA took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lions combined four walks and a hit batter to force in the two runs.

North Alabama starter Jacob James pitched six scoreless innings before walking a batter to start the seventh. After getting one batter out on a fielder's choice, James was relieved by Will Morris (1-4) who gave up three runs on one hit with two walks. The Lions would allow five runs in the inning to go down 5-2.

UNA got one run back in the bottom of the eighth when Ferrigno walked and scored on a Lane RBI-single.

The Lions and Colonels play the final game of the series on Sunday at 1:00.
