FLORENCE, Ala. -- North Alabama scored three runs over the final two innings but it wasn't enough as the Lions dropped a 9-3 decision to Eastern Kentucky in the final game of a three-game ASUN Conference series at Mike Lane Field.
EKU scored three runs in the first inning and added one in the third and three in the fifth for a 7-0 lead.
UNA got on the board in the bottom of the eighth when
Kyle Machado walked and
Gehrig Frei followed two batters later with a two-run home run.
The Colonels added two runs in the top of the ninth and UNA's final run came in the bottom of the frame as
Jackson Ferrigno was hit-by-pitch and scored on a RBI-double by Machado.
With a single in the first inning, Ferrigno extended his current hitting streak to 15 games.
UNA starter
Brycen Parrish (0-2) took the loss for the Lions, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts over an inning and a third.
North Alabama is now 9-29 overall and 3-15 in ASUN Conference play.
UNA plays at Murray State on Tuesday.
