RICHMOND, Ky. (March 22, 2024) – The University of North Alabama baseball team fell 10-0 in the series opener to Eastern Kentucky on Friday in Richmond, Ky. The Colonels used a big pair of innings in the third and fourth to take down UNA in game one of the series.
The Lions fall to 8-13 on the season, while the Colonels improve to 12-9.
Jacob James pitched a perfect first inning, ending the frame on a strikeout before EKU opened the scoring in the second inning.
Zak Majer picked up UNA's first hit of the game in the third inning and moved to second base on a
Levi Jensen sacrifice bunt.
Leighton Jenkins knocked a base hit, but Majer was thrown out at home.
The Colonels added on eight runs across the next two innings to push the lead to 9-0. EKU added the final run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.
Majer finished his day 1-for-1 with a single and a walk. He is now batting .444 with a 1.027 OPS in six games this season.
