time in 12 seasons, the University of North Alabama volleyball team
will not be making the trip to the NCAA Division II tournament.
Selections for the regional round of the 2007 NCAA tourney were
announced Monday, leaving the Lions at home during the post-season
for the first time since 1995. |

Conference have named North Alabama
libero Jessica Hansen the league’s
East Division Defensive
Player of the Week on
Tuesday. Hansen,
a 5-5 junior, wins the conference
defensive honor for the second time
in her career after helping the
Lions to a 2-2 season-opening record
this past weekend. She posted three
20-plus dig matches and averaged
5.27 digs per game on the week.
The
Council Bluffs, Iowa native had a
season-high 26 digs against No. 8
Ashland and also added 11 service
aces for the week. North
Alabama will return to action next
weekend at the Town Place Suites
Classic in Findlay, Ohio. The
Lions will open the event with a
battle against seventh-ranked Truman
State on Aug. 31 at noon. |
