PENSACOLA, Fla., – Brooklynn Clark hit a three-run home run in the first inning and the University of North Alabama softball team completed a three-game Gulf South Conference sweep at West Florida Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 road victory. The win gives UNA a 10-1 record on the year with a 3-0 start to GSC play.

Courtney Shields led off the game with a single and Libby Olinger drew a one-out walk to set the stage for Clark's shot to centerfield.

The score remained 3-0 until UWF plated single runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to make the score 3-2. UNA added an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Olinger led off the frame with a single and later scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Brittany Gillison.

Hillary Carpenter pitched the bottom of the seventh for the Lions to get her first save of the season. BreeAnna Blevins tossed the first six innings to get the victory in the circle. The senior allowed two runs off three hits with four strikeouts to improve to 5-1 on the season.

At the plate, Shields and Gillison each went 2-for-3 on the day. Clark finished the day 1-for-1 with three RBI.

UNA will play another three-game GSC series next weekend at Delta State. The two teams will play a double-header Saturday at 1 p.m. on the DSU campus in Cleveland, Miss.
