UNA VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS LEE TO REACH 20 WINS

FLORENCE – Natasha Fomina had 16 kills and the University of North Alabama volleyball team reached the 20-win plateau with a 3-0 sweep over Lee Friday evening at Flowers Hall. The 25-16, 25-19, 25-20 victory gives UNA a 20-4 record on the season with a 10-3 mark in Gulf South Conference play.
 
After rallying to defeat Lee in five sets on Sept. 17, the Lions were able to maintain early leads in each set to get the sweep. The Flames (9-11 overall, 5-7 GSC) hit just .107 for the match while UNA hit .317 on the night.
 
Peyton Lang added 10 kills and 12 digs while Jayden Davila-McClary had 36 assists to maintain her GSC-leading average of 11.4 assists per set. Ashtyn Kapovich also had a match-high 16 digs for the Lions. Brooke Wilsman led Lee with nine kills and 11 digs on the night.
 
UNA will host Shorter on Saturday. Match time is set for 1 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
