UNA TENNIS TEAMS RELEASE 2017 SCHEDULES

FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama men's and women's tennis teams will face a challenging slate of matches during the upcoming season. UNA head tennis coach Brice Bishop announced the 2017 schedules for both teams, which includes Division I teams, nationally ranked Division II teams and the usual slate of talented Gulf South Conference squads.

"We are extremely excited to get the spring season started with perhaps our most difficult schedule to date," said Bishop. "The challenges that facing such a tough schedule will only make us better in the long run."

Both UNA teams open the 2017 season on the road at Division I opponents. The men's team will face UAB on Feb. 5 while the UNA women will open on Feb. 10 at Belmont. The UNA men will also play at Chattanooga on Feb. 18 and both teams will host Alabama A&M on April 1.

The men and women will host Christian Brothers at 1 p.m. on Feb. 19 to open GSC play. The Lions have also added Bellarmine and Cameron to the home schedule this season. Another non-conference matchup includes a neutral-site meeting against Florida Tech.

"We've added nationally-ranked Cameron as well as Bellarmine to our home schedule," Bishop added. "I believe to improve, you have to challenge yourself with the toughest competition, and we've done that with this schedule."
The home opener for both UNA teams will be at 2 p.m. on Feb. 15 against Martin Methodist.
