MEN’S TENNIS FALLS 7-1 AT UTC

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., – After winning two of three doubles matches to grab an early 1-0 lead, Tennessee-Chattanooga won five of six matches in singles play to secure a 7-1 home victory over the University of North Alabama men's tennis team on Saturday. With the loss, UNA falls to 1-2 on the season.
 
The two teams split the first two doubles matches before the Mocs recorded the overall point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. After the Lions lost a 6-3 decision at the top doubles spot, Miguel Garcia and Taylor Ausbon were able to keep the Lions within striking distance with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles play, UTC was able to clinch the match wins at the No. 4, No. 2 and No. 1 spots. Max Druppel gave UNA its lone point with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles. The Mocs closed out the match with wins at the bottom two positions.
 
UNA will now turn its attention to its Gulf South Conference opener. The Lions will host Christian Brothers at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
