UNA WOMEN HAVE THREE ALL-GSC SELECTIONS

BIRMINGHAM – The University of North Alabama placed three players on the 2018 All-Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Team. Brittany Panetti, Emma Wallen and Ivy Wallen each received first-team honors, making UNA the most-represented school on the list.

In her first season with the Lions, Panetti made an instant impact in the post. The sophomore from Katy, Texas led the GSC in field goal percentage, connecting on 60.3 percent of her shots from the floor. She reached double figures in scoring 23 times, including seven games with at least 20 points and a career-high 32 on Nov. 11 against Lynn.

Panetti has recorded five double-doubles and is the Top 10 of the league in rebounding. She was named the GSC Player of the Week on Feb. 6.

Emma Wallen takes home All-GSC honors for the first time in her career. She led UNA and was second in the conference in scoring at 18.4 points per game. The sophomore from Anderson has made her mark for the Lions from the three-point line, posting back-to-back single-season school records in three-point attempts (277) and three-point baskets (96). Against Mississippi College, she set a UNA single-game record with 10 three-pointers.

Emma leads the team with 24 games in double figures. She has four games with at least 30 points, including a pair of 34-point showings. Her 96 treys on the year is also tied for the GSC lead.

Ivy Wallen takes home first team All-GSC honors for the second straight year. The sophomore left an impression on the league before a season-ending leg injury on Jan. 25. Prior to that, she led the nation in total assists (178) and assists per game (9.4). Aside from averaging 17.5 points per game, the points guard from Anderson also recorded 33 steals and pulled down 100 rebounds.

Ivy had seven straight games with double-digit assist totals, including a UNA and GSC single-game record of 20 on Jan. 2 at Mississippi College. She reached double figures in scoring in all but one game this season and turned in a career-high 34 points on Jan. 13 at West Georgia.

All-GSC honors are voted on by head coaches from around the league. UNA's three first-team selections represent the first for the school since the 1984-85 team had Deborah Benson, LaConger Cohran and Brenda Mayes receive the honor.
