ALABAMA GETS 7-0 WIN OVER UNA MEN

Box Score TUSCALOOSA – The No. 22 University of Alabama men's tennis team grabbed an early lead in doubles play before winning all six singles matches Monday in a 7-0 home win over North Alabama. The third straight loss to the second consecutive Southeastern Conference opponent leaves UNA with an 0-3 start to the 2019 season.

The Crimson Tide (4-0) grabbed the early lead with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Straight-set wins in singles play then clinched the sweep.

"I thought there were positives on every court again," said UNA head tennis coach Brice Bishop. "Jason Pimenta was very competitive again.  Tim Heslin showed some improvement from Saturday.  Tim and Oscar Meslin were also very good in doubles.  Overall, we got a lot out of this match."

UNA opened the season with a pair of 4-0 losses at an Ole Miss team that is also receiving votes in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings.

"Our guys played in great atmospheres against some of the most talented teams in the country," added Bishop. "This will definitely benefit our guys down the road."

UNA will play at Samford on Jan. 27. Match time is set for 1 p.m. in Birmingham.
