LIONS FALL AT MIDDLE TENNESSEE

MURFREESBORO, Tenn., - Middle Tennessee improved to 8-1 on the season with a 7-0 home victory over the University of North Alabama men's tennis team Sunday at the Adams Tennis Complex. With the loss, UNA falls to 0-6 on the season.
 
The Blue Raiders secured the doubles point after winning 6-1 at No. 1 and 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3, UNA's Cian Maguire and Cade Reasons had a 5-4 lead when play was halted.
 
Middle Tennessee clinched the overall match with singles wins at No. 4 (6-0, 6-2), No. 6 (6-2, 6-1) and No. 5 (6-4, 6-2). The teams finished the remaining singles matches with the Blue Raiders posting wins in the final three positions. After dropping the opening set, Maguire forced a tiebreaker after a 7-6 victory. The sophomore from Waterford, Ireland came up short 13-11 in the final frame.
 
UNA will continue its season-opening road swing Wednesday at Samford. The Lions play at 10 a.m. on the Samford campus in Birmingham.
