FLORENCE – Troy improved to 11-1 on the season with a 7-0 win over the University of North Alabama men's tennis team on Thursday. After six consecutive road matches to open the season, the Lions fall to 0-7 after falling at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts.
After a 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, the Trojans were able grab the overall lead by winning one of the two remaining close matches. Troy held on for a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles to clinch the point. After the doubles point was secured, Carlos Matarredona and Andreas Hansen managed a 7-5 victory of their own at the top spot.
In singles play, Troy posted wins at No. 1, No. 6 and No. 2 to clinch the match. The Trojans finished the day with victories in the remaining three matches. No. 4 singles was the final match off the court with Troy's Vito Llinares edging Hansen 6-3, 7-5.
The North Alabama men will host Austin Peay on Saturday, March 6. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
