FLORENCE, Ala. -- University of North Alabama senior defensive back
K.J. Smith earned a spot on the 2021 Phil Steele FCS All-America Team, while 12 Lions were named to the Phil Steele All-Big South Team.
Smith was a fourth-team All-American selection on the Phil Steele team after leading the Big South Conference with six interceptions this season, and ranking second in interception return yardage at 69. He was also second in the league in total passes defended with 12. He made 32 solo tackles and added 10 assists.
On the Phil Steele All-Big South Team, Smith was a first-team selection, along with senior defensive lineman
