OXFORD, Miss., - The University of North Alabama women's tennis team came up short twice in a double-header at Ole Miss on Sunday. The 7-0 and 4-0 defeats leave UNA with an 0-4 record on the season while the Rebels open the 2022 campaign with a 2-0 mark.

In the opener, Ole Miss took the early lead with 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4 victories in doubles play. No. 3 doubles was the closest decision with Kalais Going and Lee-Taylor Bishop coming up just short after the overall point had already been decided.

Ole Miss then swept singles play, clinching the match with victories at No. 6, No. 2 and No. 4. After the Rebels clinched, Sydney Flesch was edged at the top spot 6-1, 7-5 by No. 80 Sabina Machalova.

In the second match, Ole Miss grabbed the early lead with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The match was then stopped after the Rebels clinched with three singles wins.

UNA will play its next match at Samford on Jan. 28. Match time is set at 2 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Center in Birmingham.
