STARKVILLE, Miss., - Mississippi State record two wins over the University of North Alabama women's tennis team on Saturday, getting 4-0 and 4-1 victories to improve to 6-1. With the two losses, UNA falls to 0-8 on the year.

In the opener, Mississippi State took the early lead with 6-1 and 6-2 finishes in matches No. 1 and No. 2 of doubles play. At No. 3 doubles, Kalais Going and Makayla Loubser faced a 5-3 deficit when play was stopped.

The Bulldogs then swept singles play, clinching the match with victories at No. 6, No. 4 and No. 1 singles.

In the second match, Payton Andrews and Nicole Reilly won by default at No. 3 doubles. The Bulldogs, however, went on to post wins at the top two spots to take the 1-0 overall lead.

Playing at No. 6 singles, Reilly also claimed the default win for the Lions to briefly even the score at 1-1. MSU then posted singles victories at No. 3, No. 1 and No. 4 to claim the overall victory.

UNA hosts Troy on Feb. 17. Match time is for 1 p.m. at the UNA Varsity Tennis Courts.
