JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- North Alabama built an early 5-2 lead but couldn't hold it as Jacksonville State rallied for a 6-5 win over the Lions in ASUN Conference baseball action.
UNA scored a run in the first inning and then added four in the third for a 5-2 lead. JSU got single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to pull within a run, then scored two more in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead.
UNA falls to 6-16 overall and 1-5 in ASUN play. Jacksonville State improves to 11-11 overall and 6-0 in the ASUN.
In the top of the first,
Austin Thrasher doubled for UNA and scored on a
Devne Daniel double.
JSU got two runs in the bottom of the first but the Lions regained the lead with a four-run third inning.
Dominick McIntyre singled, stole second, Thrasher walked and
Reid Homan singled in McIntyre. Daniel then drove in Thrasher with an RBI-single and
Jonathan Lane hit a two-run home run.
North Alabama starter
Jacob James (2-1) took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on 10 hits over six complete innings.
Luke Harper pitched an inning and a third, allowing two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Austin Emener pitched the final two-thirds, allowing a hit and walking one.
Daniel had three of UNA's 10 hits in the game.
Peyton Thomas added two hits.
North Alabama plays at Ole Miss Tuesday at 6:30.
