WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO FGCU IN SEASON FINALE

FLORENCE – A 5-2 home loss to FGCU by the University of North Alabama women's tennis team wrapped up the 2022 season for the Lions. After securing the doubles points, the Eagles won four of the six matches in singles play to pick up the victory. With the loss, UNA ends is season with a 3-19 overall record and 1-8 mark in ASUN Conference play.
 
FGCU grabbed the early lead with 6-0 and 6-2 victories at the No. 3 and No. 1 doubles spots. No. 2 doubles ended with the visitors holding a slim 4-3 lead.
 
In singles play, FGCU won the first four matches to clinch. Wins at the No. 6 and No. 5 spots gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead before a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 securing the overall win.
 
The Eagles built a 5-0 lead before UNA's Sydney Flesch and Juliette Talieu recorded the final two points for the Lions. At the No. 2 position, Sydney Flesch rallied for a three-set victory. After splitting the first two sets, the Huntsville native picked up a 10-7 win in the tiebreaker.
 
At No. 3 singles, Juliette Talieu won in similar fashion. After falling in the opening set, she rallied to force the tiebreaker, where a 10-8 victory ended the day.
