NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- North Alabama fell behind 7-1 before mounting a rally, but the Lions couldn't come all the way back as UNA dropped the final game of the season, and the final game of head coach
Mike Keehn's coaching career, 13-6 at Lipscomb.
Keehn, who announced his retirement last week, has spent the last 34 years on the UNA coaching staff, including the last 14 seasons as head coach. He closes his head coaching career with 346 wins with the Lions.
The Lions closed their 2022 season with a 12-41 overall record and a 5-25 ASUN mark.
UNA got a run in the first before Lipscomb tied the game with a run in the second. The Bisons then added two in the fourth and four in the sixth to take a 7-1 lead. UNA got a run in the sixth and three in the seventh to cut the deficit to 7-5, but Lipscomb put two more on the board in the bottom of the seventh to push its lead back to 9-5. UNA's final run came in the top of the eighth and Lipscomb added fourmore in its half of the eighth.
UNA starter
Jacob James (3-6) took the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits over four and two-thirds innings. He walked four and struckout three.
In the first,
Austin Thrasher singled and later scored on a
Devne Daniel RBI-single.
In the UNA sixth,
Reid Homan singled and scored on an RBI-single from
Reid Singewald.
The Lions scored three in the seventh.
Levi Jensen singled and
Luke Harper and Thrasher walked to load the bases. Homan doubled in two runs and the final run scored on a
Drew Hudson ground out.
UNA's final run came in the eighth as
Cal Cook was hit-by-pitch and later scored on a Harper sacrifice fly.
